Build a Team from the Aniimo You Own
Start with the next task, then assign your four members useful jobs. For ordinary story progress, combine a damage dealer, a BREAK option, recovery and one flexible slot. For a collection trip, protect the movement abilities the route needs. For a boss, choose the attack matchup and opening first, then fit support around that damage window.

Choose the task before choosing four names
Named members, early habitats and a role-balanced sequence.

Prepare the Scorchhowl Fire boss rotationAn owned-roster setup for Ice Alpha Geoclaw.
| Your next task | Keep in the team | Change first |
|---|---|---|
| Story encounters | A damage sequence you can execute, BREAK and recovery | Use the flexible slot for the obstacle or encounter stopping progress. |
| Mixed-terrain collection | The movement actions needed on every leg, plus enough combat and recovery | Remove redundant travel support only after checking the whole return route. |
| A demanding boss | An effective damage type and a way to deliver attacks during its opening | Replace a travel-only slot before removing the support your rotation needs. |
Give each member a job you can actually use
Read matchups from the attacker’s element.
Find companions by role and inspect their kitsUse an obtainable member with the abilities your plan needs.
- Choose the damage dealer whose available skills fit the target. Check the attacking element against the target before investing in a new specialist.
- Choose how to create an opening. Hummin fills the BREAK job in the starter party; read the actual skill loop before substituting another BREAK companion.
- Choose recovery for the fight you expect. Keep enough EP to use it when damage arrives, rather than spending the reserve on optional attacks.
- Use the remaining slot to solve the task: movement for a route, another required interaction, or support for a particular damage sequence.
- Read the equipped form and available abilities on all four members. A role or element label does not mean a replacement has the same skill, resource effect or timing.
Replace the missing function, then account for the lost one
A companion can cover more than one job, but check the conditions. Flutternym combines movement and recovery; that can free a slot on one route while Skippy’s swimming remains necessary on another. Count the usable abilities, not just the number of different roles in the party.
| Situation | Practical choice | Tradeoff to check |
|---|---|---|
| You need flight but do not own Flutternym | Use Nimbi for Fly Lv.1 and retain Skippy for healing. | Nimbi’s Cloud Shield protects itself; it does not replace Flutternym’s recovery kit. |
| Your route needs no swimming | Consider using Flutternym for flight and recovery, freeing Skippy’s slot for the next encounter. | Check every route leg before dropping swimming; use healing abilities already available to you. |
| Your chosen damage element is resisted | Choose an owned damage dealer with a more suitable matchup and a usable skill loop. | Rebuild support around the new damage dealer; Fire-specific support is not automatically useful to a different element. |
| You lack one member of the Scorchhowl boss party | Use the balanced starter plan while building the missing role, or redesign the rotation around your owned members. | A same-element replacement does not reproduce Inferlupa’s opening, Somniwing’s energy recovery or Sparkelf’s Fire support. |
Write a short sequence before spending rare materials
Become comfortable with the actions used in your sequence.
Check training priorities before investingReview potential and Capability limits before spending heavily.
- Name the action that starts the fight and the state you want to create: a Break opening, a safe attack position or room to recover.
- Put the main damage action after that preparation. Use the target’s visible state instead of swapping on a memorized timer.
- Check energy immediately before the expensive action. In the Scorchhowl party, recovery precedes the charged finisher; spending that energy elsewhere changes the outcome.
- Plan how to recover if the target survives. Keep an escape and healing plan instead of assuming one burst ends the fight.
- Practice a complete cycle against an encounter you can survive. Only then commit scarce training resources to the members that make the cycle work.
Change one slot for the problem you can observe
Repeat the same encounter after one adjustment and compare what changed: reaching the objective, surviving setup, creating Break or landing the finishing hit. Keep the change that solves the bottleneck, then reassess the next problem.
| What goes wrong | Check first | Next adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot reach the objective | Missing movement action or a progression gate | Restore the required utility; extra combat damage will not open the route. |
| You lose health during setup | Exposure before the damage window and unavailable recovery | Shorten the setup or restore a recovery role before adding more damage support. |
| The finisher is weak | Target resistance, available EP, charge completion and expired support | Correct the failed condition before replacing the whole team. |
| The target moves away before the hit | The opening ends during preparation | Shorten the support sequence or choose an attack you can land in that window. |
| A replacement made the party worse | The original member performed a second job | Restore that job elsewhere or choose a different replacement. |
