Somniwing: Unlock and EP Support Guide

Work toward the Somniwing reward at 180 Elite Training points. Once obtained, use it as an energy support: restore EP, prepare an opening when sleep can work, then return to your damage dealer. It is the recovery member of the Scorchhowl boss team, so account for its unlock before investing in that entire setup.

How to get Somniwing

Read the points counter rather than counting completed quest rows. The 180-point reward track is separate from the chapter promotion requirements shown on the right; a chapter’s character-level requirement is not the number of training points you need.

Build this into your normal progression: check objectives before a collection trip, story session or battle, then return to the board afterwards. This is a progression target, so do not plan a fresh-account team around having Somniwing immediately.

  1. Open Elite Training and check the reward track along the bottom of the screen. Somniwing is at the 180-point milestone.
  2. Review Core Courses and the four elective tabs: Path of Twining, Path of Discovery, Path of Victory and Path of Splendor. Choose unfinished objectives you can complete with your current progression.
  3. Use Track on an available objective, complete its stated requirement and return to collect its reward. Check the overall points counter as you work through the board.
  4. At 180 points, select the Somniwing reward and follow the claim prompts. Confirm that Somniwing appears in your Aniimo roster before treating the boss party as ready.

What Somniwing adds to a party

The EP bonus is a flat increase of 10. Spend field time on recovery and useful control, then hand the fight back to the member that converts that energy into damage. Somniwing’s recovery role does not replace a dedicated BREAK member.

Choose skills for the next damage window

Hypnotic Spores prevents action for up to five seconds and increases damage taken by 25% while Sleeping. Damage ends the condition, and Grass-type Aniimo are immune to this skill. Treat it as preparation for an opening hit rather than a bonus that persists through a whole combo.

Check your own skill panel for the current recovery amounts. The important decision is whether the next attack sequence has enough EP, rather than assuming every Somniwing restores the same amount.

SkillUseAvoid
Ethereal Light WaveA zero-EP wave that absorbs projectiles and improves recovery for teammates along its path.Casting without considering where the wave travels.
Butterfly DanceRestore EP when the party needs energy for its next sequence.Using it simply because it is ready while the energy pool is already full.
Hypnotic SporesSpend 20 EP to create a short sleep opening against a susceptible target.Using it on Grass targets, or breaking sleep with a small follow-up hit.
Energy OrbAn offensive option when you want Somniwing itself to attack.Spending the energy reserved for your main damage dealer’s burst.

Build for recovery and survival

Prioritize REGEN and enough HP to survive the swap-in. Invest for the support job first; maximizing Somniwing’s damage is a different use of resources.

Spirited Feather is a REGEN-oriented held-item option. Auspicious Bell offers another recovery option with a chance to restore EP on skill use. Compare the effects and upgrade tiers you actually own before changing equipment.

Use it in the Scorchhowl boss team

  1. Prepare the other members’ buffs and the BREAK opening described in the boss guide.
  2. Bring in Somniwing when EP recovery is needed and use Butterfly Dance before the finishing sequence.
  3. Use Hypnotic Spores only if the target can be affected and the additional action fits the opening. Account for its EP cost.
  4. Return to Scorchhowl and use the prepared burst. Avoid spending the recovered energy on an unnecessary Energy Orb first.
