Playing together
Aniimo Co-op: Invite Friends, Companion Mode & Progress
Open Friends after the feature unlocks, add your friend by UID and invite them into your world. Co-op lets you explore and fight together. Visiting another world does not complete the guest’s main story or permanently unlock its travel points in their own world.

Choose a shared goal before joining
Begin with something you can do together: explore an area, look for Aniimo or help with an Alpha fight. If your goal is to advance both characters through the main story, plan time in each player’s own world as well.
Both players should finish the opening progression until Friends is available in the main menu. Check that you are using the same server before exchanging invitations. Keep your UID handy so your friend can find the correct character instead of relying on a similar display name.
Add a friend and invite them into your world
- Open the main menu and choose Friends. Use Add Friends when the person is not already on your list.
- Exchange character UIDs and search for the person you want to add. Check the returned profile, then send and accept the friend request.
- Return to the Friend List and find the online player. Use the invitation control beside their entry.
- Have the invited player accept. Confirm that you can see each other in the world before setting off.
- On PC, approach your friend and press F to open the player interaction panel. This is where you can find Friends Tree and Companion Mode.
Use Companion Mode to stay together
Companion Mode is a follow feature within your shared session. In the nearby-player panel, the pink Companion Mode option lets you lead; the blue Ask to Join Companion option asks to follow. Agree who is navigating before choosing one.
After the invitation is accepted, a butterfly connection between the characters shows the link. The follower travels behind the leader, which is useful when one player knows the route or the group keeps getting separated.
Use the on-screen Companion Mode exit prompt when you want to move independently again. On PC, the demonstrated exit control is T; follow the prompt shown at the bottom right for your current input device. Leaving the follow state and finishing a story objective are separate actions.
What carries over, and what you must do yourself
A shared world is useful for exploration, but each player still has personal progression. Check your own objective and map after returning home.
| Activity | How to plan your session |
|---|---|
| Exploration and catching | Travel together and make your own capture decisions. Keep pods ready for the targets you want. |
| Nearby treasure chests | Stay near each other and look for the shared-chest notification when a chest is opened. |
| Alpha encounters | Fight together, then each player checks their own post-fight catch and reward choices. |
| Main story | Guests need to complete their own story progression in their own world. |
| Travel-point unlocks | A guest’s activation animation in the host world does not mean the point remains unlocked back home. |
| Lumin Amber challenges | Complete these for your own character rather than assuming the host’s result counts for you. |
Finish the Alpha reward interaction before leaving
After defeating an Alpha together, inspect the Catch Countdown panel. Choose from the pods you actually have, read the displayed chance and use Catch and Claim Rewards when ready. The panel’s Quit option is a different action, so do not close it automatically as soon as the fight ends.
A teammate’s successful capture does not replace your choice. Check your own resources and result; the percentage shown for another player or another encounter is not your guaranteed success rate. Agree on the next destination after everyone has finished the reward screen.
If the session is not doing what you expected
| Problem | Next action |
|---|---|
| Friends is unavailable | Continue the opening progression until the menu feature unlocks. |
| You cannot find the intended player | Compare the UID and server, then check the profile returned by the search. |
| Your friend is present but will not follow | Send a Companion Mode invitation and confirm the butterfly connection. |
| Story progress is missing after leaving | Resume that objective in your own world; visiting the host does not finish it for you. |
| An Alpha is defeated but no catch is recorded | Check your own catch/reward result rather than relying on the teammate’s capture. |
